Welcome!

Welcome to the website of St. Mary & St. Martha of Bethany Episcopal Church in Buford, GA. We are a beautifully diverse parish of disciples of Jesus Christ.

You have visited our website at a particularly exciting time in the life of this parish. We have outgrown our former Church campus because of our many developing and thoughtful parish programs. We have moved to a more appropriate-sized Church campus where we continue to praise God and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

If you are seeking a community in which you are safe to love and be loved—you can find it here. I invite you to explore the rest of our website to get a sense of who we are and what we are up to. And may the peace of God surround you now and remain with you forever!

Faithfully,

Tim+

Faith Formation

We are excited to offer two means of formal Christian education to the children of our parish: Godly Play (GP) and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). GP will take place every Sunday between services for all children in grades kindergarten through 5th. On Wednesday nights, the children will be able to delve deeper in their faith formation in age specific classes of CGS.  If you would like to volunteer for this important ministry, please Karen Murphy know:  karend@windstream.net

We offer three Adult Faith Formation Education courses at the 9:15am Sunday School hour. The first class is "A Year with the Saints" with Dr. Daniel Haynes and Jenny Massey. This course will explore the lives of the saints of the Church and how we can incorporate them into our faith formation (upstairs room 203). Our second course, "Episcopal Life" is a new class for Episcopalians to learn about their tradition. The class will be taught by Father Tim Watts and will be an open format for brand new Episcopalians and cradle Episcopalians alike. Come ask the questions that you have always wondered about but were too afraid to ask (in the Library)! Our final offering will be the "Bach Cantatas" taught by Professor Emeritus Homer Edwards. Explore the theology and beauty of one the Baroque master (upstairs room 204). If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to substitute or to teach, please contact Dr. Daniel Haynes: theologian@episcopal-buford.org
